What's it really all about?

Given the tragedy in Haiti, one thing everyone reading this and everyone sitting with roof over their head, better know one thing. Its not about you. Strange enough it takes a devestating event to remind us how frail our lives are. The authorities overlooking the tragedy are estimating 200,000 dead and over 1.5 million people homeless. What does that tell you? What do you believe about your life? None of us can imagine how we would feel if we had to go through something like that. Imagine a whole generation of your people being wiped out. Imagine your whole entire family gone just like that. Imagine waking up to the reality that their is no overnight cure to your problems. Reportedly Haiti is 35% under the age of 18. Orphans. This is scary. It reminds us of Africa and its problem with AIDS. All of these children with no father or mother, or grandparents, or aunties or uncles. Forced to grow in a world all alone.

What am I saying? Shake yourself. Stop tripping about your bills. Stop tripping about your haters. Stop tripping about life in general. Somebody has it worst than you. This is your notice. You have no excuse. Life is short. You'd better live it to the fullest because at least you have a say in your life. Its not about you. This is a big world. You are a minnow in huge tank. Eat or be eaten. Listening to R&B singers moan about their sexual exploits or rappers yapping about their money, just dont cut it. How can we be so shallow after this? God is trying to get our attention. Pay attention or pay a bigger price. Its up to you. Yall can have the depression. Yall can have these backwards thinking nitwits who can't make up their mind whether or not they can love you. We better get somewhere and sit down and stop complaining about our lives. I dont know everything about life but what I do know is that life isnt about us. Again I am saying God is trying to get our attention. You can ignore it if you want. As long as you cant see past your life and your issues. You will suffer the sickness that plagues so many of us. Selfishness. God help us all.

Its been interesting... of late.

You know, its been a minute since I last posted something. A number of things have taken place and it just wouldn't be right if I just let them pass by.

1) The Earthquake in Haiti
All I can say is oh my God. 7.0 on the richter scale. Thousands dead. Thousands unaccounted for. Thousands trapped. Lives permanently changed. Lets pray for the people of Haiti and support them with our wallets as well as our concerns. Above all, be thankful for your life because this is just one reminder of how blessed we really are.

2) Teddy Pendergrass passes away.
All I can say is he will be missed. Thank God for the recording technology. We have a catalog of music we can dance to, romance to, and think about. From his stint with Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes to his solo material. A real singer with real songs. God bless him and his family.

3) Pat Robertson's ill timely statements.
All I can say is Pat, you are out of line. Repent. You think destruction of a country warrants a statement about Satanic influence? Really, if Haiti is guilty of that, then the United States is going to really be hit hard. I could say more, but I have kind of calm down from the time I first heard about the statement he made. So its a moot point to really deal with it. He just needs to apologize and not be so rash to point out what He thinks God did with the people of Haiti.

4) NFL playoffs have started. Yep. Congrats to the Saints. They did dat. Congrats to Indy. Two more games on Sunday.

I have slipped in my consecration or should I say lack of it. Hopefully, I can begin anew and not beat myself up about it.

Other than that. Man. A lot is going on in the world.
Be blessed and stay focused.
Remember Haiti.
Please remember Haiti.
Our people need us over there.
Humanity stand up!

Cocoon Yourself

There are times in life when you desire change above anything else. Sometimes life decisions or experiences create a deep desire to be apart of something different. Life is meant to be explored and not ignored. Who told any of us that we have to be apart of some kind of rigamorow? Just moving to and fro everyday with the same old same. Same music, same routine, same thoughts, same people, same everything. Let us look at one of God's smallest creatures for inspiration. The catapiller.

The catapiller is small in size. Some would even say that it is ugly. Yet, this catapiller is born with a purpose to change itself. In order for this change to take place. It has to cocoon itself. It has to wrap itself up and be still for a season. During this season it begins to not evolve but transform. After a period of time, the transformation take place. Its molecular structure changes and because of that, its appearance changes. After being cocooned for such a change, it emerges from the shell of the cocoon and flies away. It began life crawling. It continued its life by being still. Now, after being perfectly changed, it now flies. Its territory has been enlarged, just simply by being still long enough to transform.

Will you and I be still long enough to transform? Sometimes, you have to cut yourself off from the world and its troubles and deal with yourself. Though we do not radically change physically like the catapiller, spiritually we can transform to be the best person in which the LORD our God expects. Shut down your regular routine and cocoon yourself. When you deal with the beam in your eye, you can be qualified to help others deal with the specs in theirs. The point is to take time to make a statement. Whether its running to the gym, going back to school, or becoming closer to God, you are going to have to cocoon yourself. That means get away from people, places and things that continue to hinder your progress and transformation. Its okay, invest in yourself, so you can fully invest in the people in and around you. You and them will be better for it.

Well this is my 100th post of this blog. I am especially proud of this blog, though only a few really know about it. Many people I am told read it but very few comment or subscribe to it. It has been 100 posts of venting, enlightening and therapy for yours truly.

In the next three weeks, I will be in consecrated. The next three weeks will be filled with posts dedicated to ministry and building. I am going to many things, so for those of you who do read my blog, stay tuned. I promise it will be uplifting, inspiring and thought provoking. There will no be no venting if I can help it. Just look forward to some powerful teaching. I promise you will be blessed.

Misery Loves Company

Recently, I talked with a good friend of mine and she was despressed about the clock turning into a new year and she was still alone. Her trouble isn't her looks. Her trouble isn't her desire. Her trouble lies with her persona. She isn't really sure what she looking for. When a person doesn't know what they are looking for, its a sign that they have not found what they're looking for in themselves. My advice to her to work on herself. Yet, it has fallen on deaf ears. She is one these sisters who thinks she should be able to get a man in her present state. She works hard for a living. She doens't want a man to take care of her children. She does that well for herself. Yet, she is still manless. Sometimes you have to look at yourself and your standards to see if they are reasonable and realistic. Yet, as I stated earlier. She really doesn't know what she wants. She just wants love. Nothing wrong with wanting love but the package in which the love comes in may be questionable at best. She even told me that as a person who is single, I possibly cannot like being single. I dont. She's right. Except, I understand somethings that I need to do personally in order to really be ready for a relationship. I think sometimes if we are alone for an extended period of time, we can become despondent about our situation. I wont visit despair with her. Hey, it sucks being single at times. Then I realize that maybe I need to do somethings. Discover some new tactics or interests to boost my stock. I told her basically to work on herself on some more. If nothing else, find interests that will fulfill that gulf that lies in her socially and emotionally. Misery loves company and in this new year. I am not going to fall for that okey doke.

Celebrate the New Year!!!

01-01-10

Happy New Year!
Many of us waited for this moment with baiting breath. Now its here. So, what are you going to do different this year than the previous year or any other year for that matter. I dont know about you but I woke up with the same problems. My finances are still out of whack. Im still single. I didnt get to hug or kiss anybody when the clock struck 12 midnight. Im still coughing up cold. Im still in the same still.

Well...
I guess if change is going to happen, then you and I gotta make it happen. Change is like that cute cheerleader that is bubbly and always has a smile on her face. She sees you but looks like she's isnt paying any attention to you. So you have to grab her attention. After all, she's been here before. She has waved her pom poms at you. She jumps and leaps with excitement. Yet, she's just not impressed by you. So you gotta do something that impresses her. Truthfully, to impress this chica you gotta do something that you have never done before. You are gonna have to stretch your limits and bust out the comfort zone you have been lolly gagging in. Once you do that, you turn her head. Now... How do you keep her head turned toward you. You gotta perform stunts that she has never seen from you and yes this sucks but... you are going to have to keep it up. You might need an oxygen tank when your done; but when its over change will cuddle up next to you and stay with you.

So having said that. LETS GO GET IT! WHATEVER IT IS YOU TRYING TO DO! IF THAT DONT WORK, THEN YOU GOTTA TREAT CHANGE LIKE A CHICK NAME OPPORTUNITY.

Opportunity is that around the way girl. She isnt easy but she is always advertising. Sometimes you gotta show a lil thug passion with opportunity. You got to grab her and squeeze her tight. You have to show her raw passion. You gotta show her something. You dont have a lot time to figure out things. With Opportunity, you gotta get down to business. She gives you one shot. Thats all you got. She will leave you with room for error but you dont have all day to get it right. When you step to this chica, you better have a plan and a goal in mind. Opportunity dont have time for wishing. Could have drowned saving should have, while would have laughed the whole time. The key to this mami is focus. You gotta focus. Remember you got one shot. Sometimes, Im not gonna lie, you may have snatch this girl kicking and screaming. Yet, when she sees you are serious, really serious. Oh boy, opportunity expands your mind. She starts even suggesting new things and fresh ideas. Yet, if you are somebody just playing around. She gets bored. SO HANDLE YOUR BUSINESS!!

ITS A NEW YEAR. KICKSTART IT BY REALIZING THAT IF IT IS TO BE, THEN ITS UP TO ME!! Dont blame Change and Opportunity if you dont step up. Own your faults. They are out there waiting. Go get em' and tell 'em I sent you. That will make them either smile or laugh. LETS DO IT!!!
